4. How we use your personal data

  • To run your account and profile.
  • To send your application to the employer you apply to. When you apply for a job, that employer receives your profile, including your name, phone number, email address, tickets, Lantra card details, licence and right-to-work answers, and any CV or note you add.
  • To show you jobs that match your tickets and location, and to work out distances.
  • To send you job alerts by WhatsApp or email, if you switch them on.
  • To let employers advertise jobs, including turning pictures, links or text into job listings.
  • To pass training enquiries to a training provider so they can contact you about course dates.
  • To send service messages (for example account confirmation, password resets, “you have applied”, “new applicant”).
  • To keep the Website secure, prevent misuse and fraud, and deal with reports.
  • To understand how the Website is used and improve it.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

5. Legal basis for processing

  • Contract: to provide the services you sign up for, such as your account, applications and job listings.
  • Consent: for job alerts by WhatsApp or email, for passing training enquiries to a training provider, and for non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: to run, secure and improve the Website, to prevent misuse, and to list jobs that employers have advertised publicly so operatives can find them.
  • Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or share information.

6. Who can see your information

  • Your profile is not public. It is not shown on Google, and employers cannot browse or search for operatives.
  • Employers only see your details when you apply to one of their jobs. Our Terms of Use only allow them to use your details for that job, and forbid copying, selling or adding them to marketing lists.
  • Training providers receive your training enquiry so they can contact you.
  • Service providers who help us run the Website (section 7).
  • We never sell your personal data.

7. Service providers we use

These companies process personal data on our behalf, only for the purposes below:

  • SiteGround: website hosting and databases.
  • Google (Gmail / Google Workspace): sending the Website’s emails and our email inbox.
  • Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform): sending job alerts to operatives who switch them on, and receiving replies such as STOP. Meta receives your phone number and the alert content.
  • OpenAI: reading the pictures, links or text that employers give our posting tool, to prepare job listings. These may include names or phone numbers shown in an advert. We do not keep the pictures, and under OpenAI’s business terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models.
  • postcodes.io: turning a town or postcode into a map position to find jobs near you. Only the place name or postcode is sent.
  • Google Analytics and Jetpack (Automattic): measuring how the Website is used (section 10).
  • Google Ads: measuring whether our adverts bring people to the Website, only if you accept cookies (section 10).
  • Google and Facebook sign-in: if you choose to register or log in with them, they share your name and email address with us.
  • Stripe: card payments, only if paid services are offered in future.

8. International transfers

Some providers (for example Google, Meta and OpenAI) may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge) or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, so your data stays protected.

9. How long we keep your data

  • Accounts and profiles: while your account is open. If an account has not been used for 2 years, we may delete it after warning you by email.
  • Applications: up to 12 months after the job closes, so you and the employer can refer back to them.
  • Job alert records and WhatsApp opt-ins or opt-outs: while alerts are on, and records of opt-outs for as long as needed to respect them.
  • Training enquiries: up to 12 months.
  • Pictures given to the posting tool: not stored.

Employers who receive your application are responsible for how long they keep it.

10. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and the Website working. These don’t need your consent.

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept other cookies. Only if you click Accept do we use Google Analytics cookies (to see how the Website is used) and Google Ads cookies (to measure whether our adverts work). If you click Reject, Google only receives anonymous, cookieless signals. Jetpack collects basic visit statistics without advertising cookies.

The Website also remembers a few things in your browser, such as your cookie choice, a job you saved before registering, or that you closed a message. To change your cookie choice, clear this site’s data in your browser and you’ll be asked again.

11. Job alerts and how to stop them

Job alerts are off until you switch them on. You can turn WhatsApp or email alerts off at any time in your dashboard, by replying STOP to a WhatsApp alert, or by using the unsubscribe link in an email.

12. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of your personal data;
  • have it corrected or deleted;
  • object to or restrict how we use it;
  • withdraw consent at any time;
  • ask for your data in a portable format.

To use these rights, or to delete your account, email hello@trafficmanagementjobs.co.uk or use our Data Deletion page. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

13. Security

We use secure (HTTPS) connections, access controls and reputable hosting to protect your data. No website is completely secure, so please use a strong password and tell us straight away if you think your account has been accessed.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make important changes, we will tell registered users.
